Chamaerops humilis

Widely known as the European Fan Palm Chamaerops humilis is also known as, Mediterranean Fan Palm and Dwarf Fan Palm.

Although it is slow growing in the UK it is hardy and is an excellent choice for growing in pots or containers.

Best in full sun to part shade and an excellent addition to the conservatory

Growing conditions and care

Drought tolerant and in fact requiring excellent drainage Chamaerops humilis is originally from the Mediterranean and under ideal conditions could reach 4 - 5 m.
In the cooler UK usually much less 2m is normal.

Frost tolerant and able to cope with poor soil conditions this easy to care for palm requires very little care other than a tidy up of any damaged or old fronds.

Fertilize with a dilute foliar spray during summer months. Water during summer months but hold back water during winter
