Lonicera nitida

Lonicers nitida is a perennial shrub that makes an good low growing evergreen hedge. L. nitida is related to honeysuckle and is often refered to as 'box leaf honeysuckle'. It can easily be trimmed to form a nice bushy dense growing hedge. The small leaves and ease of pruning make this a most versatile hedging plant. Also used for topiary

Growing well in full sun to part shade, it is an excellent choice for hedes to around 2m. It responds particulary well to pruning or clipping which makes it well suited to those more formal hedges. Plant at around 250 cm centres for a nice tight hedge 4-6 plants per metre depending on conditions. Plant in late winter to early spring as the soil begins to warm.

Cultivars such as Lonicera nitida 'Baggesen's Gold', 'Lemon Beauty' an 'Silver Beauty' are all readily available for sale from online nurseries.
