Taxus
Taxus baccata is the common or 'English Yew', widely grown as a hedging plant, although sometimes grown as a small tree. The common yew has its good points and its short comongs as well.
It is easily clipped and shaped as a hedging plant, and it is hardy throughn the UK. Its timber is strong and flexible, used to make long bows in days of yore.
It is also poisenous, all parts of it,including the leaves and the berries, if you eat it.

- Taxus baccata fastigata is an upright variety.
- Taxus cuspidata is the Japanese Yew.
- Taxus globosa is the Mexican Yew.
- Taxus brevifolia is from Canada and the US.
- Taxus x media is ahybrid between Taxus baccata and Taxus cuspidata
